The 5 Best David Gareja & Rainbow Mountains Day Trips

Two hours southeast of Tbilisi the land turns striped and treeless, and a sixth-century monastery is cut into the last ridge before the Azerbaijani border. Some tours take the graded road, some need a proper 4x4 and a driver who has done it before. This list makes clear which is which, and what each one costs.

“Fifo was a great guide. The experience was good overall. Both rainbow mountains and David Gareja monastery are at the same location. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that only 3 out of 12 monasteries are in Georgia while the other 9 are in azerbaijan which means you cannot visit them. Fifo made a picturesque pitstop at a lake which was nice which is why I'm rating it 4.”
